"Common Sense, for a Change"

Mississippi Agriculture is a multi-billion dollar segment of our economy, but we are
falling far short of our potential.
For Mississippi to become an agricultural leader in the twenty-first century, we must:

Produce crops that make money.  Mississippi farmers need financial flexibility within the emerging crops loan program to adjust to the demands of changing
markets.

Process our own products, keeping good jobs and value-added profits here in our state to maximize the economic benefit to our people.

Market Mississippi products aggressively around the world, with a special emphasis on our Japanese trading partners.

Train a modern workforce through our high school and community college vocational programs, educating our farmers, processors and their employees in the latest techniques in production, processing and marketing.

Improve rural quality of life by advocating innovative programs to provide health
care coverage for farms and agribusinesses, support for rural fire departments,
more personnel for rural law enforcement, better rural schools and stronger rural
community associations.
